Paleokastritsa is probably the most picturesque area of Corfu. The abrupt cliffs divide the coastline into 6 sandy bays and the emerald colour of the rich plantation reaches the shoreline to meet the sea. By the sea the clear turquoise water is ideal for swimming and water sports. The hills above Paleokastritsa offer spectacular views of this beautiful landscape and those who enjoy hiking can trail the donkey paths up the hills to reach the surrounding villages.
Each of Paleokastrista's five bays is made up of a shingle beach that is lapped by crystal clear blue-green waters. Sun-loungers and watersports equipment can be hired on the beach.. Due to the mountainous nature of the village most of the accommodation here does not have swimming pools and is not suitable for the less mobile. The area gets crowded with day-trippers, especially in July & August.
